The app allows users to display a digital version of their driver’s license on their cellphone to serve as proof of identification, age and address, according to a Ping Identity press release. The state selected Ping Identity, ID DataWeb and ProofID to collectively apply their vendor solutions for registration, multi-factor authentication and image verification alongside OIT.
Denver-based Ping Identity offers multi-factor identification, single sign-on, access management and more to customers in the private and public sectors.
Andre Durand, founder and CEO of Ping Identity, said digital ID places Colorado at the forefront of state-issued identification.
“With the prevalence of smartphones and the need to provide identity security, this is absolutely the direction states and government bodies are heading towards to protect their constituents and improve efficiencies,” Durand said in the statement. “Ping Identity is proud to be part of a project that will improve the lives and protect the data of people in our home state.”
With the myColorado app, businesses and state agencies are able to verify users. Residents with a digital ID can filter which aspects are shared when displaying the app, such as age, date of birth and address, the press release stated.
“The myColorado mobile app provides residents of Colorado with safe, trusted and secure access to in-state online services,” said David Coxe, founder and CEO of ID DataWeb in the statement.
