New York Names Retired U.S. Army Colonel as State CIO
Having spent 33 years in the Army and helped the U.S. Virgin Islands get back up and running after a hurricane, Angelo Riddick will be New York’s first full CIO since Robert Samson retired more than a year ago.
After more than a year with an interim chief information officer, the state of New York has named a full-time replacement in Angelo “Tony” Riddick, former CIO of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Riddick's LinkedIn profile confirmed today.
Riddick is a retired U.S. Army colonel who spent 33 years in the service, including as a senior staff officer in the U.S. Army Cyber Command Headquarters, according to his LinkedIn profile. More recently he was CIO of the Virgin Islands from November 2016 to May 2019, where he oversaw infrastructure recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria. Prior to that he was an independent cybersecurity consultant in Washington, D.C. He has also been a director of business development for cybersecurity at Ryan Consulting in Indianapolis, a commander for the Office of Security Cooperation in Iraq responsible for equipment installations and operational support, and a professor of systems management at National Defense University.
