The IT department of Florida’s largest county is under new leadership, with former deputy director Margaret Brisbane taking the helm after CIO Angel Petisco retired last week, the department confirmed today.
Brisbane’s promotion to interim director follows almost 16 years working for Miami-Dade County's IT department, according to her
LinkedIn profile. She’s been deputy director since November, and prior to that she was assistant IT director for over 14 years, where she was responsible for the county’s ERP systems and led more than 250 staff members in supporting the applications and systems of the county’s various departments. She has also participated in several boards, including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, ITWomen and eMerge Americas. Prior to her work in the public sector, Brisbane spent more than eight years on global technology projects and network support for Burger King Corporation. She has an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, and a bachelor’s degree in international marketing from Florida International University.
The nation’s seventh most-populous county with more than 2.7 million people, Miami-Dade County has placed on
Government Technology’s Digital Counties list for its size category four out of the past five years. Most recently, it made 2020’s list for overhauling its website and linking it to a 311 call system, using data to drive decision-making, hosting hackathons and improving its cybersecurity and
election security measures.
